Best Time to Visit Siquijor
The best time to visit Siquijor, Philippines, is during the dry season, which typically runs from December to May.
This period offers the most pleasant weather with less rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities such as beach trips, diving, snorkeling, and exploring the island’s natural attractions.
The peak tourist season is from December to April, so visiting during the shoulder months of late November and May can provide a good balance of favorable weather and fewer crowds.
The rainy season in Siquijor typically occurs from June to November. During this period, the island experiences frequent showers and occasional typhoons. The weather can be unpredictable, with some days of heavy rain and others with clear skies. Flexibility is key if visiting during these months.
How to Get to Siquijor from Moalboal
Moalboal to Siquijor is quite the journey, but it’s absolutely worth the extra effort. Here are the steps you’ll need to take to get to Siquijor
From Moalboal Hotel—>Tricycle to Local Bus Station by Jollibee—>Take Local Bus to Bato Terminal—>From Bato Terminal take a Tricycle to Liloan Port—>Liloan Port catch the Ferry to Sibulan Port—>From Sibulan Port take a Tricycle to Port of Dumaguete—>Port of Dumaguete catch the Ferry to Siquijor
The whole journey will take roughly 6 hours. None of these transfers were booked in advance, we just made sure to be at the Local Bus Station near Jollibee in Moalboal by 8:00am in order catch the rest of the transfers at a good time.
This entire journey will cost roughly PHP 900/ $15.50 USD.
Top 12 Things to do in Siquijor
Siquijor is a pretty relaxing island and you could do a good amount of the attractions in 2 days but what’s the fun in that. Plus it takes a half day or more to get to Siquijor so I recommended at least a 4 night stay.
Here are some of the best things to do in Siquijor, Philippines.
1. Visit Cambugahay Falls
A popular multi-tiered waterfall with clear, turquoise water. You can swim, swing from ropes, and enjoy the natural beauty.
Tip: I recommended getting there closer to closing time rather than opening time. There is a lot more people during opening. Opening Hours: 8am-5pm.
2. Explore Salagdoong Beach
Known for its white sand, clear waters, and cliff diving spots. It’s a perfect spot for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling.
3. See the Enchanted Balete Tree
A 400-year-old tree with a fish spa at its base. Locals believe the tree has mystical properties.
4. Discover Lazi Church and Convent
One of the oldest and largest convents in the Philippines, offering a glimpse into the island’s colonial history.
5. Relax at Paliton Beach
Often called the “Hidden Paradise,” this beach is known for its stunning sunsets and tranquil atmosphere. This was my favorite beach it was so peaceful and loved the small little huts selling snacks and drinks.
6. Visit the Century-Old Capilay Spring Park
A natural spring where locals and tourists can swim. The water feels so refreshing, we really enjoyed our time here. The park also has picnic areas and a playground.
7. Take a Tour of San Juan
Explore the town of San Juan, known for its beautiful beaches, resorts, and restaurants.
8. Go Caving in Cantabon Cave
A challenging but rewarding cave exploration with stunning stalactites and stalagmites.
9. Experience the Bolo-Bolo Healing Ritual
A traditional healing ritual performed by local shamans using herbs and prayers.
10. Hike Mount Bandilaan
The highest point in Siquijor, offering panoramic views of the island. The surrounding area is a natural park with several trails. Super underrated spot, when we went we were the only ones at the viewpoint.
11. Snorkel at Tubod Marine Sanctuary:
A protected marine area with vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life.
12. Check Out the Siquijor Butterfly Sanctuary:
Sadly the butterfly population is dying in Siquijor due to the lack of rainfall Siquijor receives. This sanctuary is trying its best to repopulate by breeding and releasing once a week. Highly recommend a visit to help support the owner in all his efforts to bring them back.

- Highlights: A Must Visit! This Italian restaurant offers homemade pasta, pizzas, gelato and other Italian specialties. They have Gluten Free pasta that was honestly the best gluten free pasta I’ve ever had.
Noy Noy’s Eatery:

- Highlight: Noy Noy’s Eatery is renowned for its authentic Filipino comfort food in a relaxed, homey setting. Popular dishes include hearty local specialties like adobo and sinigang, alongside freshly prepared seafood. The eatery offers a taste of traditional flavors and welcoming atmosphere making it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.
Nek Nek Pintastic Bistro:
- Cuisine: Filipino and International
- Highlight: NekNek Pinktastic Bistro makes the best burgers on the island. We went there twice it was so good, get the double cheeseburger, trust me!

- Cuisine: Asian Fusion and Vegetarian/Vegan
- Highlight: Serving delicious breakfast options like smoothies bowls, shakshuka and Asian fusion dishes for dinner.
Twenty4:
- Cuisine: Causal Dining
- Highlight: Twenty4 is a great spot for delicious Filipino style breakfast. Their French press coffee is hands down the best on the island. They also sell homemade baked goods.
Mr.Sumo:
- Cuisine: Japanese
- Highlight: Mr. Sumo serves authentic Japanese cuisine, featuring a range of fresh sushi, sashimi, and flavorful ramen. The restaurant offers a cozy, traditional Japanese dining experience with a focus on high-quality ingredients.

Tricycles:
Tricycles are a common mode of transportation in the Philippines, including Siquijor. They can be hired for short trips or day tours around the island. Can accommodate 2-4 passengers.
- Cost: Short trips usually cost around PHP 50 to PHP 300, while island tours can range from PHP 1000 to PHP 1500 for a day.

Siquijor to Bohol
Siquijor to Bohol is the one of the easiest transfers in the Philippines. To get to Bohol you will need to take a ferry from Siquijor Pier to Bohol.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:
- Get to Siquijor Port: The main port is in Siquijor Town, but there are also ports in Larena and Lazi. You can take a tricycle or habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) to the port.
- Book a Ferry Ticket: Several operators provide ferry services between Siquijor and Bohol, such as OceanJet, Lite Ferries, and Montenegro Lines. It’s advisable to arrive at the port at least an hour before departure.
- Board the Ferry: Most ferries depart from Siquijor or Larena Port and arrive at Tagbilaran Port in Bohol. The journey usually takes about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the type of ferry.
- Arrival in Bohol: Most ferries dock at Tagbilaran Port, which is the main gateway to Bohol. From Tagbilaran Port, you can take a tricycle, taxi, or van to your destination within Bohol, such as Panglao Island, which is a popular area for tourists.
