Best Time to Visit Moalboal
The best time to visit Moalboal is during the dry season, which runs from December to May. During these months, you can expect sunny weather, calm seas, and ideal conditions for diving, snorkeling, and exploring the area’s natural attractions.

The peak tourist season is from December to April, so visiting during the shoulder months of late November and May can provide a good balance of favorable weather and fewer crowds.
June to November is considered rainy season so flexibility is key when visiting during these months.
How to Get from Cebu Airport to Moalboal
To get to Moalboal you will need to fly into Mactan-Cebu International Airport. From here you will have to make the 4 hour journey to Moalboal.
We went with a private transfer, and for 4 adults we paid PHP 3000/ $52 USD. Our driver picked us up from the airport and dropped us off directly at our hotel in Moalboal.

To get from Cebu Airport (Mactan-Cebu International Airport) to Moalboal using public transportation, follow these steps:
1. From Cebu Airport to Cebu City:
- Taxi or Ride-Hailing Service: Grab a taxi or use a ride-hailing app like Grab to travel from the airport to Cebu City’s South Bus Terminal. The journey takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic.
- Bus: The Sugbo buses leave from Cebu Airport to South Bus Terminal daily every hour from 5 AM to 6 PM.
2. From Cebu City to Moalboal:
- Bus: At the South Bus Terminal, look for a bus that goes to Bato via Moalboal, Badian or Barili. All three buses stop in Moalboal and depart from the terminal about every 30 minutes. They do have air conditioned and non air-conditioned buses. The trip takes approximately 3-4 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
- Van (V-Hire): For a faster option, you can take a van (commonly referred to as “V-Hire”) from the South Bus Terminal to Moalboal. Vans are typically faster but don’t leave until they are full. The travel time is around 2.5-3 hours.
3. From Moalboal Bus Stop to Your Accommodation:
- Tricycle: Upon arriving in Moalboal, you can take a tricycle to your accommodation. Tricycles are a common and convenient mode of local transportation and should cost between PHP 50 – PHP 300.
Additional Tips
- Schedule and Fare: Buses and vans operate frequently throughout the day, but it’s best to start your journey early in the morning to avoid traffic and ensure you arrive in Moalboal before dark. Fares are affordable, with buses typically costing around PHP 210 and vans slightly higher.
Top 15 Things to do in Moalboal
There is so much to do in Moalboal, so I recommended a 4-5 day stay, especially if you’re coming internationally. You’ll be pretty exhausted on day 1 and probably wont be doing much.

Experience the mesmerizing spectacle of millions of sardines swimming in synchrony just off the coast of Panagsama Beach. This natural phenomenon is accessible year round to both divers and snorkelers.
2. Pescador Island

3. Kawasan Falls and Canyoneering
Visit the beautiful Kawasan Falls, located in nearby Badian. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the turquoise waters, or take part in canyoneering adventures, which involve trekking, jumping, and swimming through the river.

JG’s Grill:
- Cuisine: Filipino and Barbecue
- Highlights: Known for its grilled meats and seafood. Offers a casual dining experience with delicious barbecue options. Super local vibes!
Ven’z Kitchen:
- Cuisine: Filipino
- Highlights: A popular spot for affordable and authentic Filipino food. Try their chicken adobo and fresh seafood dishes.
Tip: Do not order the Halo Halo at Ven’z Kitchen their food is amazing but my goodness their Halo Halo was by the far the worst tasting Halo Halo I’ve ever had. Order the Mango Float instead!
Shaka Moalboal:
- Cuisine: Vegetarian/Vegan
- Highlights: A health-conscious cafe offering smoothie bowls, salads, and vegetarian options. Their smoothie bowls are particularly popular.
Three Bears Restaurant:
- Cuisine: Filipino and Western

Ô délices French Bakery

How to Get Around in Moalboal
There’s lots of different transport options to get around Moalboal depending on the size of your group, travel style and length of your journey. Here’s a quick overview of what to expect.

Tricycles:
Tricycles are the most common mode of transport within Moalboal. They are readily available and can be flagged down on the street and are ideal for short distances, such as getting from your accommodation to Panagsama Beach, White Beach, or the town center. They accommodate 2-4 passengers.
Short trips usually cost around PHP 50 to PHP 300.
Motorbike Rentals:
Renting a motorbike gives you the freedom to explore Moalboal and its surrounding areas at your own pace but be careful as road conditions are not always the best. Make sure to have a valid driver’s license, and always wear a helmet for safety.
Rental cost typically ranges from PHP 300 to PHP 500 per day.
The Habal Habal:
A “scooter taxi,” is an economical option for single passengers who don’t wish to rent their own vehicle. Usually cost is around PHP 20 to PHP 50 for short distances and PHP 50 to PHP 500 for longer journeys.
Jeepneys and Buses:
For longer distances, such as traveling to nearby towns or attractions like Kawasan Falls, you can take jeepneys or buses from Moalboal’s town center. These are cost-effective options, though they might be less convenient and slower compared to private transport.
Jeepneys typically range from PHP 10 to PHP 50, while Buses range from PHP 50 to PHP 200, depending on the distance.
Vans:

Moalboal to Siquijor is quite the journey, but it’s absolutely worth the extra effort. Here are the steps you’ll need to take to get to Siquijor
From Moalboal Hotel—>Tricycle to Local Bus Station by Jollibee—>Take Local Bus to Bato Terminal—>From Bato Terminal take a Tricycle to Liloan Port—>Liloan Port catch the Ferry to Sibulan Port—>From Sibulan Port take a Tricycle to Port of Dumaguete—>Port of Dumaguete catch the Ferry to Siquijor
The whole journey will take roughly 6 hours. None of these transfers were booked in advance, we just made sure to be at the Local Bus Station near Jollibee in Moalboal by 8:00am in order catch the rest of the transfers at a good time.
This entire journey will cost roughly PHP 900/ $15.50 USD.
